Book Distribution

Starting from late 16th century till now, book distribution program is considered lifeline of Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition. In ISKCON, book distribution is considered as the highest form of devotional service and compassion. The philosophy centers on the belief that distributing transcendental literature is the ultimate way to awaken humanity's dormant love for Krishna. Devotees at ISKCON Jorhat also organises book distribution services, throughout the year innovating various ideas, to share vedic literature to common masses. 

1) During Nagar Sankirtan: Every Sunday morning devotees go to diverse locations like villages, wards, streets in and around Jorhat town chanting the Hare Krishna maha mantra with musical instruments. Also during Saturday evening devotees organise Harinaam Sankirtan in the parks. During these Sankirtan, some devotees approach onlookers, householders, locals and distribute these transcendental literatures to the interested individuals.

2) Stalls during major festivals: During traditional cultural events like Gaur Poornima, Janmastami, Durga Puja, New Year, Mahalaya devotees at ISKCON Jorhat set up stalls displaying wide range of books on Krishna Consciousness with teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and all Gaudiya Vasihnava acharyas.

3) Book Fair Participation: ISKCON Jorhat also participated in the Assam Book Fair, a major book fair in Jorhat during mid to late November.

4) Gita Marathon: ISKCON Jorhat celebrates Gita Marathon, a month long book distribution drive around the auspicious time of Gita Jayanti. During this time devotees request people to sponsor multiple copies of Gita and Bhagavatam for distribution. ISKCON Jorhat requests every individual to participate/sponsor/help us in this transcendental service to Lord Krishna of distributing His Divine message via sacred books to every villages in and around Jorhat Town.
